Knicks season opener over reaction.

One game into the season and i’m fully prepared to Jump to conclusions. This Knicks season won’t be judged by wins and losses Hornacek and staff will be judged by the development of their young talent and is the coach getting the best out of that young talent. If tonight game is any indication of what the this season holds for the Knicks we’re off to a bad start.
Before I go Bobby knight and start throwing chairs i have to commend KP for looking like THE GUY tonight, i know it’s easy to put up big numbers on a bad team but KP’s game had poise tonight, 32 and 12 in the season opener is nothing to ignore. The last Knick to put up 30 and 10 in his season opener was Patrick Ewing, KP is joining good company.


 Serious question are we sure Jeff Hornacheck is a good coach? I’m really not sure, Hornacek’s first year in phoenix he turned a underdog suns team into a viable contender for the 8th seed in a tough western conference. Since the 2014-15 season Hornacek hasn't had a winning season, leaving his coaching record at 84-130 since then.
Last season the only two Knicks worth being excited for Were KP and Willy Hernangomez. During this years pre season Hernangomez’s per 36 averages were 17 ppg and 15 rbs and somehow only ended up playing 3 mins tonight. Frankie Smokes our lottery pick point guard played 5 total minutes which is an interesting coaching move especially since we only have one other point guard on the entire roster... career journeyman Ramon Sessions.

With the talent on this roster and a loaded draft on the way the Knicks should be playing all the young guys. We’re going to be bad regardless might as well find out what the kids have to offer in the meantime. I like Kyle o’quinn but in my unprofessional opinion his ceiling doesn’t get much higher he is who he is a serviceable backup big man. Willy is four years younger and has great chemistry with KP. Frankie smokes may not be better than Ramon Sessions today but if we don’t plan on him becoming better than him we a wasted a lottery pick, if we do plan on him being the better player the Knicks have to play him and let him compete at the toughest position in the league. There is no way to develop talent on a bad team if you aren’t going to let that talent play.

Hornacheck Who comes from the old Jazz Jerry sloan regime seems to be exuding that 90’s mentality of young guys have to earn their minutes, which works on a teams that are contending for the postseason but on teams that lack talent like this Knicks roster we just want to see what the young guys got and if they play hard for coach NY will get behind them win or lose NY’ers are smart basketball fans we’ve been starved for so long we just want something to root for .

Hopefully coach Hornacheck isn’t just trying to protect his job because as Knicks fans we’ve seen this one too many times and it’s the quickest way to get ran out of town just ask Phil Jackson.

Loyalty, You talking about loyalty?

Whether the Celtics and  Cavs trade gets finalized,hopefully this is the last season we talk about loyalty in sports. I’m not saying there is no loyalty between the players or even the coaching staff and the players but that’s where the cut off begins. Look at the contrast of the biggest offseason moves of the last two season. In 2016 Kevin durant signed with the Golden State Warriors and was destroyed by the internet and sport personalities for not being “loyal”, after playing in OKC for 9 years, taking them to their very first NBA finals and was a focal point in the community during the Tornado that devastated the OKC area. This off season the Celtics are in the process of trading Isaiah thomas for kyrie irving. If you missed last season isaiah thomas only Averaged 30 ppg and led the NBA in 4th quarter scoring. The Game has announced that his Next album is his “last”. Hip Hop like in sports only the Legends get to pick when it’s over and it’s an interesting conversation depending on who you ask. To some Game is a great mc, to others he’s an attention seeking gang member who will find any kind of drama to attach himself to. In my eyes though game is one of the greatest mc’s to ever pick up a microphone. He checks all the boxes. When I look at a legendary rappers there are a certain marks you hit Talent: if i put you in a room and told you to just rap would i be impressed?
